Senior Buyer Electro-Mechanical Perm 85 to 97k Norwood, MA • Commodities: sheet metal, machining, mechanical assemblies, plastics, power supplies, cable assemblies, OEM products, connectors, labels, hardware & some MRO. • Involvement with Engineering from the concept stage through completed design to ensure component selection, DFM, and documentation criteria is acceptable to produce a finished product at our contract manufacturers with the lowest cost and highest quality. • Drives and participates in proto/pilot and production build strategies • Work with cross functional groups to limit sole source suppliers. • Constantly seeks and identifies opportunities for value creation (cost savings, cost avoidance, revenue enhancement) and risk reduction. • Work with our outsourcing partners to ensure best of class in materials management. • Support sustaining products with contract manufacturing partners through ECO’s, rework instructions, deviations, etc. • Support outsource partners as requested in solving delivery, cost, payment or specification issues that may arise. • Drive strategic supply chain programs with outsource partners that will maximize material availability while minimizing inventory exposure. • Determine the need for tooling and make recommendations for the design and planning of required tools. • Achieve P.P.V. / cost savings goals set by corporation. • Have a good understanding of assessing supplier capabilities on supplier qualification and selection for new & ongoing product developments keying on quality, delivery, cost, service and global presence. • Stay on top of commodity trends both on cost and in lead times to ensure that our outsourcing partner’s stay on schedule. • Assist NPI group to help ensure a quick and smooth transition to production at the targeted cost goals set by the corporation • Develop strategic contract negotiations with key suppliers. • Interact with all groups to assure compliance of company specifications. • Placement and management of purchase orders to ensure that the suppliers are delivering on-time while minimizing the dollar receipts to keep the inventory in line to the corporation’s goals. • Assist in the development of policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure quality, cost control and risk. • Global sourcing experience would be a plus. • Assist with end of life (EOL) components. Qualifications: • 10 plus years of experience in purchasing, supply chain management, inventory control and contract negotiation. • Bachelor’s degree preferred. • Able to work with all levels of an organization effectively. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Positive and energetic team player with strong cross-functional team experience. • Detailed oriented, process driven, capable of performing with minimum supervision. • Strong analytical problem-solving aptitude. • Oracle cloud MRP experience preferred. • Excel experience
